NRPUP presidential candidate in the 2026 August General Elections, Brian Mundubile, and his running mate, Makebi Zulu, have declared that they are doing well and remain ready to fight for their freedom.
The two political leaders gave a brief update to the Zambian Watch News crew upon arriving at the Solwezi Magistrate’s Court today, where they are expected to take plea in a matter in which they are facing charges of seditious practices.
“We are okay and ready to fight for our freedom,” the duo said.
Mundubile and Makebi are also facing a treason charge arising from events surrounding the 2026 General Elections.
Their arrest and prosecution have attracted attention from various stakeholders, with some arguing that the two opposition figures should be given an opportunity to have their cases heard expeditiously in court.
Earlier today, their lawyer, State Counsel Sakwiba Sikota, called on the State to have the treason proceedings televised live so that Zambians can follow the proceedings and understand the issues before the court.
