SADC rejects america’s africa bill meant to counter russian influence on the continent and punish african countries embracing or helping russia to evade sanctions following the war in Ukraine. The Bill also adds China as a threat to global peace and economic threat in the America’s African interests.
During US-Africa Summit hosted in Washingtone America hosted a number of countries with the view to booster their democratic values and security integration as well as economic transformation. American lawmakers moved a bill which was adopted by senates called US Africa Bill meant to hold accountable any African nation embracing Russian or Chinese values especially as the war in Ukraine rages on.
Despite the invitation certain African states refused to attend the summit but sent representatives. South African Foreign Affairs Minister Dr Naledi Pandor said Africa is not answerable to America or any Western bloc because it has its own destiny to define therefore the Bill can not be tolerated in SADC or among SADC member states as well as Africa in general. She said SADC and Africa in general has had enough of Western interference and dictates its now time to define its own fate and choose its own allies without being pushed around. Dr Pandor said her continent is recovering to catch up with the world after suffering hash and unfair colonial eras that has seen its resources looted and states disturbilized its therefore not in any position to side with America, Russia or China that the continent will corporate with any country it dims fit and favourable at its own will.
