Your soulmate can sometimes be your friend’s ex. Crazy as that sounds, it can happen. And Bishop Eddie Mulenga’s love story is proof that sometimes, love comes from the most unexpected places.

This week on the Kenny T 1 on 1 podcast, Bishop Eddie Mulenga opened up about his life, his journey in the church and the experiences that shaped the man he is today.

But away from church and ministry, Bishop Eddie also shared something more personal, how he met the woman who would eventually become his wife.

And trust us, this is one love story you will want to read till the end.

Before she became his wife, she was his friend’s girlfriend. Bishop Eddie first met her through his friend. At the time, she was simply his friend’s girlfriend and he didn’t think much of it. There was no romantic interest and certainly no thought that one day she would become his wife.

Then, sometime later, he heard that the two had broken up, life moved on. Years later, Bishop Eddie crossed paths with her again but this time, something was different.

He saw her in a completely different light. It was at that moment that he realized just how beautiful she was. And, perhaps more importantly, he was at a point in his life where he was ready to take a chance on love.

The fact that she was once his friend’s girlfriend no longer mattered to him, he was ready to risk it all. After thinking about it for a while, about a year later, Bishop Eddie made up his mind. He knew what he wanted, he wanted her to be his wife.

So, he drove to her parents’ home, asked for her hand in marriage, and she said yes. But before taking the next step, Bishop Eddie knew there was one person he needed to speak to his friend.

Rather than keeping it a secret and risking unnecessary drama, he decided to be upfront. He called his friend and told him that he had found the woman he wanted to marry. He informed him that the woman he was planning to marry was his ex.

And surprisingly, there was no fight, bitterness or drama. His friend congratulated him and was genuinely happy for him. And just like that, what could easily have turned into a complicated situation became a beautiful love story.

Today, Bishop Eddie Mulenga and his wife are happily married and have children together.

Sometimes, the person you are meant to spend the rest of your life with may have once been someone else’s. But in Bishop Eddie Mulenga’s case, it worked out beautifully.

  1. church is just a business, and it’s good business because people do not suspect anything. This story reveals how predatory the so-called men of god (not God) can be.
