Took me a long while to watch the Enock Simfukwe video because I feared the beating, that allegedly caused his death, was recorded.
The short clip is no less disturbing. This is why.
Sitting there bound, hand and foot, begging for the cord around his ankles to be loosened because it was biting into him, the young man has probably been roughed up, but he is alright. He can speak lucidly.
So, Enock was apprehended, subdued and restrained.
I can’t stop asking myself what horror happened to him, after that video, that resulted in brain injury.
Did they savagely beat up a man tied up like that? One who could not escape.
Can you imagine how he begged for mercy.
I will end by asking the question everyone is – why has Maria Zaloumis not been arrested? Surely the most she can hope for is a court of law acquitting her.
Can the police give the public an explanation that makes sense?
Please do not let us hear that she has left the country.

People be fair. Did she take part in the beating of the young man? Definitely she has to appear in court to relate what occurred she being a bystander privy to what was going on.
This is how impunity sets in. Partial application of justice. There is no reason Maria is free other than that she is no ordinary Mary.
Mr. Davies Chama, the former PF Chairman shot someone in the bum during a bye election campaign in Livingstone(?) in 2015(?). Justice has finally caught up with him.
Maria is no exception. If she was not involved in the beating of the deceased, well and good. But if she played a role, she will have to face justice.
UPND must realise that this is how the rot sets in. It is a process, one ignored event after another until the system collapses. PF didnot acquire its impunity overnight. Initially it was hardly noticeable until it became a flood.
The police are pussy footing because Maria is well connected.
These are some of the own goals UPND is good at. If there is rational in why Maria has not be arrested, make a statement to the public. In the absence of official voice, speculation and conspiracy fills the vacuum. Thats what UPND is good at. Leaving everyone speculating & allowing social media to provide answers. Own goals. Sometimes UPND’s hubris amazes me.
