The Zambia Army has urged its troops to be on guard against individuals with ill intentions to harm the nation particularly in this election year.

Speaking at the Copperbelt Provincial Administration in Ndola, Lieutenant General William Sikazwe says the need to secure the nation is paramount and that it is imperative that activities of foreign nationals are scrutinized in the region.

General Sikazwe adds that he was disturbed recently when he saw a news clip where a man of foreign origin brandished a gun at council employees in Ndola, a situation he says must not be tolerated in a nation that upholds peace.

He has since told his officers to ensure any acts of lawlessness are not taken lightly and made reference to the recent hackings in Chingola District as worrying because that is how gassing incidents began in the same mining town hence joint security operations must be ahead of such issues.
