ZCCM IH PLC has posted a staggering net loss of K 4.92 billion for the year ended 31 December 2025.
This is compared to a net profit of K39.85 billion recorded in 2024.
The loss is primarily driven by the absence of a one-off exceptional gain from the 2024 Mopani Strategic Equity Partner Transaction and ongoing strategic reforms at key investee companies such as Mopani Copper Mines, Konkola Copper Mines and Lubambe Copper Mines.
Group total assets declined to K47.78 billion from K57.29 billion in 2024, reflecting Kwacha appreciation from K 27.95 to K22.12 per USD.
The loss is also attributed to a K2.04 billion legal provision following the Trafigura arbitral award.
Key developments during the reporting period included the commissioning of Kansanshi Mining’s S3 Expansion achieving record annual copper production of 170,929 tonnes and the full repayment of the USD 150 million Glencore legacy loan in April 2026 strengthening the balance sheet.
During the period, ZCCM-IH also made some strategic investments in renewable energy through Maamba Solar Energy for 9.45 million US dollars and the Maamba Energy Phase II Expansion with a 35 million US dollar commitment.
During this period, copper prices increased by 41% to 12,950 US dollars per tonne.
