ZICTA ‘switches off’ five of its directors

THE Zambia Information and Communications Technology Authority (ZICTA) has appointed its director – finance, Pethel Phiri to act as the director general.

This follows the immediate termination of the employment contract for the Authority’s acting director general, Mwenya Mutale.

Mutale was the ZICTA substantive director – technology and engineering.
Other directors whose employment contracts at ZICTA have been terminated, with immediate effect, are Chisanga Mulenga (economic regulation), Mofya Chisala (protection and information management), Thomas Malama (legal and regulatory affairs) and Thomas Matandala (human capitals and operations).

This is contained in a media statement signed by ZICTA corporate communication manager, Hanford Chaaba.

ZICTA accrued millions of enemies when whoever of its senior people decided that the Internet be switched off in August 2021, after Zambians had voted for their preferred leaders and were waiting to see who had polled zeroes, hundreds and thousands on social media platforms.
