THE UNPROFESSIONAL CONDUCT OF DR. ( honourary)E. C. LUNGU ( FORMER PRESIDENT) : A MATTER WHICH MUST CONCERN ALL ZAMBIANS.
The former head of state has an active matter in the Constitutional Court of Zambia an additional layer of our judiciary born during his tenure of office.
If what goes awash on social media and especially if not contested is anything to go by,then the man has been a great beneficiary of the same institution he wants to desperage today.
We were there when the the first Presidential Elections petition inordinately collapsed in the same court and Dr.Hakainde Hichilema and team got dribbled on a skilfully crafted technically of ‘ an appeal out of time ‘ implying then that the case had gone beyond the fourteen days window .
I shudder when I think of this evil because never in my life time have I seen or heard of a court in this country operating over the weekend. But the extra-ordinary events then which made Dr.E.C.Lungu benefit from the scheme seemed to suggest such . This is a matter now assumed closed by our judiciary yet not in our minds. We wondered then and shall be left to wonder eternally!
WHAT REALLY HAPPENED? WHO WON THE 2016 PRESIDENTIAL POLLS ?
The uproffessional conduct of Dr. E.C.Lungu and his Judiciary left the whole Country in a quandary!
Alot has been written to explain what could have occassioned such but the substantive matter now is the continued disrespect of Dr. E.C.Lungu over the judiciary as evidenced by his continued attacks on the three judges he has raised issues against.
Professor Muna Ndulo in one of his submissions has done a death blow to this matter piecing together the jig-saw why the now embattled suspended trio acted in that fashion inimical to the dictates of their profession. This version has not been challenged making many of us believe it.
Dr.E.C.Lungu postured in one of the interviews with a VOA journalist that he was an accomplished lawyer during his time of practice and the benefits realised there from are the ones which enabled him continue gifting his family members with properties they are failing to acquit themselves on.
Drawing from this narrative , one would assume that the learned Counsel would have respect for our Jurisprudence and at no time would he be as contemptuous as he seemingly is. In my reading , I have come across the term sub judice implying that matters active before the courts must not be brought into social discourses to provoke the readership to comment there upon but be left to the Honourable Judges or Justices as their preserve to decide upon .
With this in mind why should Dr.E.C.Lungu continue ridiculing the trio of the Judges who he is not comfortable with ? Aren’t his actions contemptuous? Is he doing this because he has immunity against prosecution ? If such be the basis of his presumably unprofesisional conduct, what is there in our laws to protect the now vulnerable Judges from the scathing attacks of a litigant who has desired to act with impunity ?
May former president Lungu ‘s handlers help him know that he is a citizen just like any of us except he stumbled upon the Presidency of this great nation thus earning him the privileges he is now failing to manage appropriately.
