SEASON FOR ENDORSEMENTS – NOW IT’S THE TEACHERS TURN TO ENDORSE HICHILEMA
Recently, some 15 MPs, Paramount Chief Mpezeni, Councilors and some students endorsed President Hichilema for 2026 elections.
Now, it’s some teachers. Unfortunately for this category of employees, this is unacceptable conduct based on the rules of the public service.
The teachers concerned must be well acquainted with this requirement.
But I suspect very strongly, to give them the benefit of doubt, that they may have been lured unsuspectingly into this act.
Somebody somewhere may have coerced innocent teachers into endorsing President Hichilema.
This is the political season when ruling parties become overly desperate ignoring every rule.
They will use and abuse anyone and anything to stay in power.
However, it the teachers in question did it fully knowing that it was downright wrong, then, one day, they are very likely to suffer severe consequences.
In this country, memories are very long. Especially with the aid of social media, the images of the teachers concerned, are forever captured and stored where they can never be erased.
In this country, politics of vindictiveness are the order of the day. Our politicians, when in power, are very vindictive human beings.
All of you teachers that paraded yourselves, you can rest assured, your ‘sins’ are now recorded with terrible exactitude in the opposition books of vengeance.
They will come after your careers no matter how long it takes for government to change. Your fate is sealed and there’s nothing you can do to redeem yourselves.
Among yourselves, are those that will turn you in when a new government comes in.
For those of you yet to be tainted, guard your jobs jealously. Our political leaders, when they assume power, are unrecognizable.
They become cruel, hard-hearted, cold, and impervious to cries for mercy.
Don’t be hoodwinked by their smiles, handshakes and selfies. They ll throw you under the bus without blinking.
During this period, retreat to spaces where they can’t see you and abuse you for their short-term gain.
You’re a civil servant. Your job is secure. The future of your family is set. Don’t soil it carelessly.
Policy guidelines are very clear. Civil servants must be non-partisan. The same applies to workers’ unions and professional bodies as well as churches. Chiefs must also keep their party choices to themselves.
It is not wise for group representatives to be overly partisan because the groups they represent comprise of members who support different parties.
