🇿🇲 BRIEFING | PF Rift Deepens as Sampa Exits Alliance, Legal Battle Escalates

A fresh political rupture has emerged within the Patriotic Front (PF) after the Miles Sampa faction formally withdrew from the Pamodzi Alliance linked to Makebi Zulu, accusing the group of undermining the party from within.

Speaking Tuesday during a tense briefing, Miles Sampa questioned the intentions of the Zulu camp, arguing that taking internal disputes to court signals bad faith.

“If they genuinely wanted PF to survive, they would not have taken the party to court,” he said, adding that some actors were comfortable with the party’s collapse because “they never suffered for this party.”

Sampa has since moved to dissolve all PF provincial structures, signalling a hard reset within his camp.

The fallout comes as legal tensions intensify. PF Secretary General Raphael Nakacinda has filed an appeal challenging the recent High Court ruling that validated Sampa’s October 24, 2023 conference.

Nakacinda argues the court erred in law and fact, insisting the meeting did not constitute a lawful general conference and that the party’s central committee had not ceased to exist as ruled.

In his filings, jailed Nakacinda contends the judgment ignored key provisions of the PF constitution and material admissions by Sampa himself, warning that allowing the ruling to stand would result in a miscarriage of justice.

The matter is now headed to the Court of Appeal, extending an already complex legal battle over PF’s leadership and legitimacy.

The combined effect is a party now split across political and legal fronts. Alliances are collapsing, structures are being dissolved, and courtrooms are becoming the arena for leadership contests, deepening uncertainty ahead of the 2026 elections.

  1. Tired of these unprincipled Scoundrels.
They don’t even know why they are in Politics. Easily corruptible, pimping and prostituting is the nature of their political life , jumping from party to party, just a hopeless lot.
With the class of Politicians Zambia has, there’s need to fall back on Strong Civil Society Organisations. It’s the only hope we have to fight for Strong Institutions of Governance, Constitutionalism, and all aspects of good Governance. The Beauty Katebes of this world may offer quality Leadership the country desires.
Civil Society Organisations will eventually provide principled Leadership, a reservoir for politics in Future.
The clowns masquerading as Leaders have had their days. It’s time we closed this chapter and started looking elsewhere for
checks and balances, Accountability in Government.
