MOROCCO CONSIDERS SENDING TROOPS TO GAZA AS PART OF INTERNATIONAL STABILISATION FORCE
Morocco is reportedly preparing to contribute troops to the proposed International Stabilisation Force (ISF) for Gaza, which is intended to help maintain security and support post-war stabilisation efforts.
Under the reported plan, Moroccan forces could be based at a facility inside Israel before operating in a designated area of Gaza currently under Israeli control.
The proposed deployment has reportedly raised concerns over the presence of foreign troops inside Gaza, particularly because the planned base would be located close to the Israeli border.
According to the Board of Peace, no final agreement or formal contract has yet been completed. Earlier plans reportedly envisioned the facility eventually expanding to accommodate up to 5,000 troops.
The proposed force is expected to play a role in maintaining security and supporting the transition in Gaza, but significant political and operational questions remain unresolved.
⚠️ The deployment could face opposition from multiple sides, particularly over the presence of foreign military personnel in Gaza and the question of how they would operate alongside Israeli forces.
If finalized, Morocco’s participation would make it one of the Arab and Muslim-majority countries taking a direct military role in the proposed post-war security architecture for Gaza.
