    PLANE CRASH IN MUMBWA DISTRICT

TWO pilots have walked away unscathed after their aircraft made an emergency landing in the bushy plains of Muchabi area near Blue Lagoon, Nangoma in Mumbwa District, police have confirmed.

On Monday, around 16:40 hours a privately operated Cessna 206, registration 9J-BDA, en route from Chunga Camp in Kafue National Park to Lusaka, developed a mechanical fault mid-flight.

Police spokesperson Godfrey Chilabi said the aircraft was forced to land in the bush in order to avoid what could have been a serious accident.

“The pilots were able to bring the aircraft down safely. Both were unharmed but were taken to hospital for medical check-ups as a precaution,” Chilabi said.

The incident was reported to Mumbwa Police Station on Tuesday by officers from the Department of National Parks and Wildlife stationed in the Blue Lagoon Game Management Area.

Police said the aircraft remains at the Muchabi site while a multidisciplinary investigation is underway to determine the cause of the fault.
