Trump Declares Israel ‘PROHIBITED’ From Bom🅱️ing Lebanon As U.S.-brokered Ceasefire Takes Hold

Israel-Lebanon Ceasefire in Effect

U.S. President Donald Trump announced on April 17 via Truth Social that Israel is prohibited from conducting further st₹ikes on Lebanon, posting: “Israel will not be Bom🅱️ing Lebanon any longer. They are PROHIBITED from doing so by the U.S.A. Enough is enough!!!”

The statement came a day after Trump brokered a 10-day ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon, effective April 16 at 5 PM EST. The agreement was reached following separate phone calls between Trump and Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Both leaders confirmed the ceasefire.

Under the terms of the agreement, Israel committed not to conduct offen$ive military operations against Lebanese ¢ivilian, military, or state targets. However, Israel retains the right to carry out defensive $trikes in response to planned, imminent, or ongoing ∆ttacks. Netanyahu has separately confirmed Israel will not withdraw its troops from the buffer zone it established in southern Lebanon.

Lebanon, for its part, committed to take steps to prevent Hez🅱️ollah and other a₹med groups from carrying out ∆ttacks against Israeli targets. Hez🅱️ollah, which was not party to the agreement, stated its fighte₹s would remain “on the trigger” in case of Israeli violations.

Trump also invited both Netanyahu and Aoun to the White House for what he described as “the first meaningful talks between Israel and Lebanon since 1983.” He added that the Lebanon track is being pursued separately from ongoing U.S.-Iran negotiations.

The ceasefire comes as Iran had conditioned further peace negotiations with the United States on a halt to Israeli operations in Lebanon. The current U.S.-Iran ceasefire is set to expire in six days.
