KBF QUESTIONS WHETHER ECONOMIC GROWTH IS BENEFITING ORDINARY ZAMBIANS

Zambia Must Prosper (ZMP) president Kelvin Fube Bwalya has said his decision to enter politics and continue speaking on national issues is driven by a deep conviction to represent the interests of ordinary Zambians.

Speaking during an appearance on Conversations with HOPE on Capital FM 99.7, Bwalya said leaders emerge from different backgrounds and are often motivated by circumstances that compel them to seek change.

“Leaders are ordinary people. They come from all walks of life,” Bwalya said, citing historical figures such as Mahatma Gandhi, Nelson Mandela and Zambia’s founding President Kenneth Kaunda.

The lawyer and opposition leader said his legal background has given him a strong understanding of governance and constitutionalism, which he believes are essential to national development.

“I understand the architecture of good governance,” he said, adding that sustainable development cannot be achieved without a sound legal framework.

Bwalya argued that laws influence policies, regulations and economic outcomes, stressing that reforms in the legal system should be prioritised if Zambia is to achieve meaningful progress.

While acknowledging that he is not perfect, Bwalya said his values have been shaped by his family, Christian faith and cultural upbringing.

“I do not claim to be perfect because no human being is perfect,” he said.

The ZMP leader also reflected on his departure from the UPND, saying he remained confident in his decision despite criticism from some quarters.

“When I left my alliance with the UPND after helping it attain power, many people questioned my decision,” he said.

On the country’s economic situation, Bwalya said many citizens were struggling despite reports of increased investment and economic growth.

“Many citizens are finding it difficult to make ends meet,” he said.

He questioned whether the benefits of investment, particularly in the mining sector, were reaching ordinary Zambians through employment opportunities, improved incomes and better public services.c

“If investment is coming into the country, who is benefiting from it?” Bwalya asked.

He maintained that economic policies should ultimately improve the welfare of citizens and said government must ensure that growth translates into tangible benefits for the people.

Bwalya further argued that while foreign investment and fiscal prudence are important, the success of economic policies should be measured by the impact they have on the lives of ordinary Zambians.

  1. Think a bit outside the box.
The economic growth actually is benefiting all Zambian…
    Just one example.
The revenue (increased) that govt has is partially distributed to sectors such as
    – free education
    -social cash transfer
    – employment
    -bursaries
    Etc.
If you have a child or two at University…and they have bursary etc etc…than it means you as a citizen( parent) have some more cash in you pocket ….etc etc
Bwana , it’s benefiting citizen alot..

  2. THE TIME FOR QUESTIONING UPND SUCCESSES IS OVER.

NOW, IS THE TIME FOR: WHAT CAN YOU DO ABOVE OR DIFFERENTLY TO ENSURE YOU BENEFIT ZAMBIANS.

I THOUGHT THIS WAS CAMPAIGN TIME. BA OPPOSITION WERE CRYING ATI THEY BEING PREVENTED FROM CONDUCTING MASS CAMPAIGNS, BUT SINCE THE FLOOR WAS OPENED, THE OPPOSITION IS NO WHERE TO START DANCING.

INSTEAD THEY CONTINUE WITH THE SAME SH!T, LIES and PROPAGANDA.

BA OPPOSITION, YOU ARE A LET DOWN. IF YOU SAY HH, HAS FAILED TO SOLVE THE COMPLEX ECONOMIC ISSUES, YOU BA OPPOSITION, HAVE FAILED THE SIMPLEST TASK, TO DEFINE WHAT YOU WOULD DO DIFFERENTLY.

SO WHOSE BETTER, YOU or HH?

    ITS HH,,,, LETS GO.

  3. So, he acnowledges that the economy is growing but instead of praising the people who have made it so, he blames them for those who are failing to take advantage of it and benefit. These people want to get into power but they will do eaxactly the same things that are happening now. These people are just POWER HUNGRY and no matter how well things were going in the country, they would still attack the government. In his book, ‘Zambia Must Prosper,’ what KBF writes there is no different from what the UPND kaflumentii is doing. in his book, written BEFORE PF lost, he claims that he was ‘forced to begin praying and seeking God for direction and wisdom over the affairs of our nation.’
He also states that Zambia is in God’s hands. So, he prayed and God answered by putting HH in office. BUT KBF does not like God’s answer if it is not KBF that God chooses! Is that humility?
This seems to be the trend in our so called ‘Christian Nation.’ People pray but never like God’s answers, especially that God gave them one whom they allege to be a Freemason! It has been said that one can reason with a person, but when they shroud their position in religious garb, you have no chance to do so.

  4. “I do not claim to be perfect because no human being is perfect,” he said.
Speak for yourself because this is not true. There are human beings who are perfect.

  5. There are no push-button solutions to Zambia’s challenges as one does to light up a room connected to the electricity grid. If such solutions existed, we would have implemented them already. In other words, there are no instant solutions. It’s a slow slog.
