KAMBWILI’S POLITICAL FATE HANGS IN BALANCE
CITIZENS First (CF) has asked its Roan parliamentary candidate Chishimba Kambwili to resign from the party following his decision to endorse National Reconciliation Party for Unity and Prosperity presidential candidate Brian Mundubile.
CF spokesperson Stanley Mhango said the party’s central committee will be prompted to call for a meeting to discuss and determine Mr Kambwili’s fate in an event that he does not resign on his own.
Mr Mhango said in an interview yesterday that Mr Kambwili has remained unrepentant despite warning him to desist from issuing statements that have no blessings of the party.
He said it is shocking that Mr Kambwili, who is standing on the ticket of CF, which has a presidential candidate, went ahead to endorse someone else for the presidency.
Last week, Mr Kambwili said much as he is standing on CF’s ticket as Roan parliamentary candidate, he is supporting Mr Mundubile as a presidential candidate.
At the same time, Maxwell Chongu, who was CF national youth chairperson, resigned and endorsed Mr Mundubile.
“It is total indiscipline on the side of Mr Kambwili to endorse another presidential candidate. We are actually not surprised that the PF have regrouped,” Mr Mhango said.
“We have seen that what motivate our colleagues who were in PF and came to join us are actually their bellies. They are actually looking for jobs. They are not looking for how they can run the country to eradicate poverty.”
He cautioned Zambians against entertaining such people, who are only in politics for selfish gain.
Mr Mhango said Zambia needs political leaders with principles and those who attach value to the country before themselves.
He said Citizens First will remain focused and it will continue to sell its presidential candidate, Harry Kalaba, to the electorate ahead of the August 13 general election.
Mr Kambwili could not be reached for comment by press time.

Extremely poor judgement on the part of the CF leadership to adopt Mr. Kambwili as Roan parliamentary candidate or simply having anything to do with him. He is very unstable like radioactive polonium and equally destructive.
Maybe it was desperation on the part of CF.
