Explosions Reported in Southern Iran as Air Defenses Activated
Multiple explosions were reported on Thursday evening in the Iranian coastal cities of Konarak and Bushehr, according to Iranian state and semi-official media.
Iranian officials said a military site outside Bushehr was struck before air defense systems were activated in response. Authorities have not released details on the extent of the damages or reported any casualties.
At the same time, flight tracking services showed civilian air traffic over parts of Iran as reports of the explosions emerged.
A U.S. official told CNN that American forces were not conducting military operations at the time, while Israeli officials said they were not aware of any Israeli involvement. The cause of the explosions has not been independently confirmed.
