POLISH DEFENCE MINISTER: SUPPORTING UKRAINE IS IN POLAND’S NATIONAL SECURITY INTEREST

Polish Defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz has defended Poland’s decision to provide Patriot air defense missiles to Ukraine, arguing that military assistance to Kyiv directly strengthens Poland’s own security.

Responding to critics of Warsaw’s support for Ukraine, Kosiniak-Kamysz said the prospect of a Russian victory would represent the worst possible outcome for Poland, adding that those opposing continued assistance to Ukraine have “lost their minds.”

His remarks underscore Poland’s longstanding position that helping Ukraine repel Russia’s invasion is a strategic investment in regional security rather than an act of charity.

Poland, one of Ukraine’s closest allies since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022, has consistently argued that strengthening Ukraine’s defenses reduces the risk of future threats to NATO’s eastern flank.

The comments come as European allies continue to debate additional military aid packages, including air defense systems, amid ongoing Russian missile and drone attacks across Ukraine.
