AMERICA IS NOW ASKING IRAN TO ANNOUNCE THE STRAIT OF HORMUZ IS OPEN
The United States has publicly issued an ultimatum calling on Iran to formally announce that the Strait of Hormuz will remain open to international commercial shipping.
Read that again.
America is asking Iran to make a public commitment. After Iran closed the Strait. After Iran struck US bases across the Gulf. After the ceasefire collapsed. After the USS Abraham Lincoln sailed into Iranian missile range without visible escorts. After all of that, Washington’s move is to ask Tehran to please announce the Strait is open.
This is not an ultimatum. An ultimatum comes with a consequence. What consequence is Washington prepared to enforce that it has not already failed to enforce?
Iran has not responded. Why would it rush? Every hour the Strait remains closed, global oil markets remain disrupted, and Tehran remains the party that decides when the disruption ends.
America spent months declaring it would complete the job. Now it is issuing requests and calling them ultimatums.
Iran knows exactly what it holds.
