We know you want to sell maize, but we want you to sell grain that is dry, Hichilema tells farmers
PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema says the Food and Reserve Agency —FRA is working on modalities to start buying maize from farmers.
The Head of State has also told farmers that they will no longer have to queue up at banks to get paid as the Agency has now introduced a new digital friendly mode of payment.
Speaking at a rally in Mpika of Muchinga Province yesterday, President Hichilema urged the farmers not to tire waiting for the opening of the crop purchasing season.
“FRA is working on modalities to make sure hat we start buying maize and when we buy maize, we pay within two or three days.
“Do not tire, we know you want to sell your maize but we want to make sure that we sell the maize that is dry enough and that we pay you within two or three days,” President Hichilema says.
He says farmers will now be getting paid digitally and can access funds whenever they wish.
“And this year, we don’t want farmers queuing up at the bank, we will pay through digital payments,” Hichilema shared with the electorate who gathered at his Mpika rally.
