Shocking Scene: Bellingham Slaps Argentina Star After England’s World Cup Heartbreak as FIFA Punishment Looms

Jude Bellingham could face FIFA punishment after he was involved in a heated confrontation with Argentina substitute Valentin Barco following England’s dramatic World Cup semi-final defeat.

The Real Madrid midfielder was seen slapping Barco on the back of the head after the final whistle as emotions boiled over following Argentina’s 2-1 comeback victory in Atlanta.

England looked set for a place in the World Cup final after Anthony Gordon gave Thomas Tuchel’s side the lead in the 55th minute, but Argentina fought back through Enzo Fernandez before Lautaro Martinez scored a late winner in the second minute of stoppage time.

The match was already a tense encounter, with 26 fouls recorded, and frustrations exploded after the final whistle.

Barco reacted angrily after the incident, with Argentina midfielder Nico Paz stepping in to separate the players. Nicolas Otamendi then confronted Bellingham and pushed the England star in the chest.

England’s reserve goalkeepers James Trafford and Dean Henderson also rushed towards the confrontation before Ollie Watkins helped lead Bellingham away.

The incident could now result in FIFA disciplinary action, with Bellingham potentially facing a sanction and a possible suspension for England’s third-place play-off against France.

A painful World Cup exit for England has now been followed by controversy off the pitch.
