BREAKING: Trump Accidentally Declassifies Proof That Putin Worked to Help Him Win

This is one of the most insane self-owns in American political history, and Trump did it to himself on live television.

In his unhinged primetime address Thursday night, Trump told the nation that China stole the 2020 election from him, and to prove it, he declassified a stack of intelligence documents from the CIA and other agencies. But buried inside those very documents is an intelligence assessment showing the exact opposite of his conspiracy theory: Vladimir Putin and senior Russian officials directed proxy operations to help Trump win, and he just published the receipts on himself for the entire world to read.

The Documents Say the Opposite of What He Claimed

You genuinely cannot make this up. According to the newly declassified material, Putin and top Russian officials oversaw operations to spread allegations about Joe Biden and Burisma, working to “orchestrate a high-profile corruption scandal” against the Democratic nominee and “ensure the President’s victory,” and the president in question was Trump himself.

The documents describe Russian government-linked operatives pushing these smears directly to U.S. officials and prominent figures, through personal contacts and coordinated media releases, ramping up their efforts as the election approached. And in a twist that makes the whole thing even more deranged, another document in the same release confirms that China did not interfere with voting systems at all, meaning Trump’s entire premise collapsed under the weight of his own evidence within hours of him presenting it.

The Fact-Checks Were Instant and Brutal

Republican election lawyer Ben Ginsberg went on CNN immediately after the speech and said there was still no evidence any election result had ever been affected, while CNN’s review found the material largely restates vulnerabilities known for years and supports none of Trump’s claims. The Bulwark’s Sam Stein called the release “really incredible” for confirming Russia pushed the Burisma smears to U.S. officials, and reporter Will Sommer flagged a classified graphic in the release making clear that Russia, not China, was the country actually trying to meddle.

Think about how completely off the rails this is: Trump hijacked a primetime slot to push a conspiracy theory so flimsy that major networks refused to air it, and the “evidence” he waved around ended up being official U.S. intelligence documenting the Kremlin’s campaign to install him in the White House. He set out to rewrite history and instead confirmed it, because the call was coming from inside the house the whole time.
