WHY BRIAN MUNDUBILE SHOULD ANNOUNCE HIS PRE-CABINET TEAM
By Adam Sakala
Brian Mundubile should consider unveiling his proposed pre-Cabinet team before the 2026 general elections. Doing so would give Zambians a clear picture of the people he intends to govern with if elected President.
Personally, I have no problem voting for Brian Mundubile. In fact, I believe he has the potential to mount a strong challenge. My concern, however, is about some of the individuals who are expected to surround him. Many Zambians voted against the PF government in 2021, and naturally they will want to know whether the same faces will be returning to positions of influence.
For example, Jay Jay Banda has publicly expressed his desire to serve as a Minister if the opposition forms government. There are also concerns about whether individuals previously associated with controversies or poor governance—including former office holders linked to public scandals or criticised over the administration of student loans—could be considered for Cabinet positions.
Whether these concerns are justified or not, Zambians deserve clarity. Elections are not only about choosing a President; they are also about choosing the team that will run the country.
A pre-Cabinet announcement would promote transparency, inspire confidence, and help undecided voters make informed decisions. It would allow citizens to judge not only the vision of a presidential candidate but also the calibre and credibility of the people expected to implement that vision.
