ZELENSKYY NAMES THREE TOP COMMANDERS AHEAD OF “CRUCIAL MEETINGS”

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy revealed that he spent the day holding discussions with three of Ukraine’s most respected military leaders—Mykhailo Drapatyi, Volodymyr Horbatyuk, and Oleh Apostol—before announcing that he has “some crucial meetings tomorrow.”

The decision to publicly identify the commanders is significant. Rather than referring broadly to consultations with military leadership, Zelenskyy singled out three officers with distinguished combat records and strong reputations within the Armed Forces.

Mykhailo Drapatyi is regarded as one of Ukraine’s most capable battlefield commanders, earning recognition for leading successful defensive and offensive operations and for his
ability to stabilize difficult sectors of the front.

Volodymyr Horbatyuk is a veteran general with decades of operational experience, respected as a professional military planner and senior commander.

Oleh Apostol is a highly respected Air Assault Forces commander who has led Ukrainian troops through some of the war’s fiercest battles and is known for his frontline leadership.

The statement comes amid growing speculation over the future of Ukraine’s military leadership. Earlier, the Financial Times reported that Zelenskyy was considering changes at the top of the Armed Forces. The President later stated that “decisions regarding the army have been worked out,” but stopped short of announcing what those decisions would be.

Today’s announcement adds another piece to the puzzle. By confirming meetings with Drapatyi, Horbatyuk, and Apostol—and emphasizing that “crucial meetings” are still ahead—Zelenskyy has signaled that important military decisions are approaching.

While no appointments, dismissals, or command changes have been officially announced, the sequence of events strongly suggests that discussions are underway regarding the future structure and leadership of Ukraine’s Armed Forces. Whether those decisions involve changes to the Commander-in-Chief, new operational appointments, or a broader reorganization remains unknown.

An official announcement is now expected to clarify the next steps for Ukraine’s military leadership as Ukraine prepares for the next phase of the war.
