Senegal’s President Bassirou Diomaye Faye has been elected as the new rotating Chairman of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) during the 69th Ordinary Summit of Heads of State and Government held in Lungi, Sierra Leone, on July 19, 2026.
