ZESCO DISMISSED POST-ELECTION LOAD SHEDDING CLAIMS
ZANIS- Zesco Limited has dismissed claims by some political players that the power utility company will resume excessive loadshedding after the August 13 general elections
Zesco Managing Director, Justin Loongo, says the power utility company will continue with its normal power supply across the country even after the elections, following the continued investment in solar, coal and hydro power generation plants.
Speaking when he paid a courtesy call on Central Province Permanent Secretary, Milner Mwanakampwe in Kabwe, Mr Loongo assured the nation that the company has put in place adequate measures to ensure there are no power disruptions
And Mr Loongo disclosed that over 300 megawatts of solar power has been added to the national electricity grid against the 1,000 megawatts target, with many more other power generation projects being undertaken across the country.
Meanwhile, Central Province Permanent Secretary, Milner Mwanakampwe, has cautioned Zambians against believing in deceptive assertions that the end of load shedding is political.
Dr Mwanakampwe emphasised that the government is on course to achieving its target of adding 1,000 megawatts of power on the national electricity grid.
He said Central Province alone has so far contributed over 300 megawatts of solar power to the grid to ensure sustainable economic development and activities.
