IS THIS ZIMBABWE’S ANSWER TO BIG BROTHER OR A LOW-BUDGET REALITY SHOW THAT HAS THE ENTIRE INTERNET TALKING?
FROM SHARED BEDROOMS AND SIMPLE LOUNGES TO EARLY ROMANCE, ‘BROTHER IN HOUSE ZIMBABWE’ HAS SPARKED PRAISE, LAUGHTER AND HEATED DEBATE ACROSS SOCIAL MEDIA
Zimbabwe’s first home-grown reality television show, Brother In House Zimbabwe, has officially kicked off, bringing together contestants from across the country to compete for a US$50,000 grand prize over a three-month competition.
While many Zimbabweans have praised the organisers for creating a local reality show, others have criticised the production quality, the appearance of the house and some aspects of the programme. Social media has been flooded with memes and jokes, with some viewers comparing the house to a student hostel, boarding house and ordinary rental accommodation rather than the luxury homes associated with international Big Brother franchises.
Despite the criticism, the show has already attracted massive attention. Viewers are closely following the contestants, with some housemates already forming close friendships and possible romantic relationships just days after entering the house
Organisers believe the programme is an important milestone for Zimbabwe’s entertainment industry and hope it will continue to grow as the season progresses. Supporters have also urged viewers to judge the show on its entertainment value rather than comparing it directly with larger international productions that have much bigger budgets.
Whether people are watching because they genuinely enjoy it or simply because of the online jokes, one thing is certain: Brother In House Zimbabwe has become one of the most talked-about shows on social media.
😂 Be honest, how would you rate the Brother In House Zimbabwe house compared to Big Brother Mzansi?
