Former Chama North MP Yotam Mtayachalo Quizzed Over Alleged Criminal Trespass

Police in Chama have recorded a warn-and-caution statement and formerly charged  NRPUP candidate for Chama Central Constituency, Yotamu Mtayachalo, in connection with a suspected case of criminal trespass.



Eastern Province Police Commissioner Robertson Mweemba confirmed that Mr Mtayachalo was summoned for questioning over the matter.

Mr Mweemba said the suspect was interviewed, formally charged with criminal trespass, and later released on police bond.



According to information gathered by Chipata Legacy, Mr Mtayachalo was allegedly found at around 02:00 hours on unknown date  at the residence of the parents of UPND Chama Central parliamentary candidate Simon Goma within Chief Kambombo’s area



When questioned, the suspect reportedly claimed that he had lost his way and unexpectedly found himself at the residence.

Meanwhile, shortly after his release, Mr Mtayachalo praised the police officers for the professional manner in which they conducted the interview.



He said he would remain silent on the matter but was ready to face the allegations should the case proceed to court.



Mr Mtayachalo was accompanied by his campaign manager and several party officials.
