KAOMA WARNS AGAINST PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES POLITICISING CIVIL SERVICE, URGES YOUTHS TO BACK HH

By: Thomas Mwale

Former Patriotic Front (PF) member Chomba Kaoma has warned against what he described as reckless statements directed at civil servants, stressing that they have the mandate to operate professionally and free from political interference.

Mr. Kaoma said Zambia previously experienced a period of caderism in which some civil servants were allegedly victimised by political cadres who felt entitled to influence operations within the public service.

Speaking during a media briefing, Mr. Kaoma urged Zambians to reflect carefully ahead of the August 13 General Election.

He claimed that some running mate was unpopular in a province where he once served as Provincial Minister.

He has since called on young people to support President Hakainde Hichilema and the UPND who have delivered tangible benefits, citing the restoration of meal allowances and the introduction of free education as key achievements that have positively impacted many youths.

Meanwhile, International Relations Expert Edgar Silwimba says the level of development recorded under the current administration could help President Hakainde Hichilema secure five million votes in the August 13 General Election.
