HICHILEMA’S WORDS ARE ABUSIVE AND LACKING IN TRUTH, SAYS GARY NKOMBO.

Former Minister of Local Government and Rural Development and former Mazabuka Central Member of Parliament Gary Nkombo says President Hakainde Hichilema’s verbal attack on him is abusive and lacking in truth.

Mr. Nkombo has also questioned why the President has been talking about him at rallies in Chirundu, Chikankata and Mazabuka.

He says although the President’s remarks are abusive and lacking in truth, he will not spend time responding to them and will instead focus on his campaign.

Speaking to Zambian Watch News in an interview, Mr. Nkombo said responding to allegations that are not true is not his trademark.

Meanwhile, Mr. Nkombo said he has every right to contest the parliamentary seat as an independent candidate, citing Article 51 of the Constitution of Zambia, which allows eligible candidates to stand as independents.

He also refuted President Hichilema’s claims that he is working with NRPUP President Brian Mundubile because of the candle symbol on his campaign materials.

Mr. Nkombo explained that he did not choose or create the symbol, stating that it was allocated by the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ).

Responding to the President’s other remarks, Mr. Nkombo said he would not address them, describing them as abusive and lacking in truth.

He added that he was among those who suffered intimidation and beatings during the Patriotic Front (PF) administration in support of President Hichilema.

Mr. Nkombo has since urged his supporters to remain focused on the campaign and work hard, stressing that he is no longer a member of the UPND.
