NRPUP Presidential Candidate Brian Mundubile has questioned President Hakainde Hichilema’s commitment to peace following alleged attacks on opposition members and campaign activities on the Copperbelt.

In a strongly worded message directed at President Hichilema, Pres. Mundubile asked:

“My dear brother, Hakainde Hichilema, is this the peace you have been preaching about?”

Mundubile said Zambians should begin to look beyond political statements and judge the ruling party by actions on the ground as the country heads towards the 2026 General Elections.

“Zambians should now begin to see the UPND beyond the rhetoric,” he said, while warning that violence threatens the country’s democratic progress.

“Violence has no place in our democracy, and every political party must be allowed to campaign freely and peacefully,” Mundubile stated.

The NRPUP Presidential Candidate has stated that opposition members on the Copperbelt have been subjected to attacks and assaults, while campaign vehicles have been vandalised.

“Our members on the Copperbelt have been attacked, assaulted, and our campaign vehicles vandalized,” he said.

Pres. Mundubile said Zambia’s democracy must be protected by ensuring that all political parties and citizens can participate freely in the electoral process without intimidation or fear.

As the election season intensifies, he has called for a peaceful environment where political competition is based on ideas, policies, and solutions rather than confrontation.

The opposition leader urged all stakeholders to uphold peace and protect Zambia’s democratic values ahead of the 2026 polls.
