Daka scores on Hamburger SV debut in pre-season victory
Chipolopolo striker Patson Daka has made an impressive start to life at German Bundesliga side Hamburger SV, scoring on his debut in a 3-1 pre-season friendly victory over Heidenheim during the club’s training camp in Austria.
Daka, who officially joined Hamburger SV this week Wednesday following the expiry of his contract with former English Premier League side Leicester City, delivered a standout performance by winning a penalty, providing an assist and scoring a goal.
The Zambian international played a crucial role in Hamburger SV’s opening goal in the 36th minute after being fouled inside the penalty area, allowing Nicolai Remberg to convert from the spot and hand the newly promoted Bundesliga side the lead.
After the break, Daka turned provider by setting up French midfielder Ryan Philippe for Hamburger SV’s second goal before Heidenheim reduced the deficit.
The 26-year-old then crowned an impressive first outing by scoring his side’s third goal in the 56th minute. Daka controlled a pass from the left with his right foot before calmly finishing with his left to seal a memorable debut for his new club.
The performance marks a promising start for the Zambian forward as he begins a new chapter in Germany following the end of his spell at Leicester City.
