Four Pakistani Spaza Shop Owners Gunned Down in Kempton Park
Four Pakistani nationals who owned spaza shops in Tembisa were shot dead in an apparent ambush in Kempton Park on Saturday evening.
According to preliminary reports, the men were driving home after closing their businesses when gunmen opened fire on their vehicle at the corner of Zuurfontein and Orangerivier roads in Chloorkop. All four occupants died at the scene.
Police have launched a murder investigation to establish the motive behind the attack. No arrests have been made, and authorities are appealing to anyone with information to come forward.
The incident comes amid ongoing tensions involving some foreign-owned spaza shops in parts of South Africa. Police have urged communities to allow the investigation to run its course and not take the law into their own hands.
