Kuwait Denies Wall Street Journal Report Alleging Involvement in Strikes Against Iran
Kuwait has rejected a report published by the U.S. newspaper The Wall Street Journal that claimed Bahrain and Kuwait had taken part in military operations against Iran, including airstrikes carried out inside Iranian territory.
The report, published a day earlier, alleged that aircraft from the two Gulf countries were involved in attacks targeting locations inside Iran. The claims triggered concern in Kuwait, which moved quickly to deny any involvement in military actions against its neighboring country.
In a statement issued on Sunday, Kuwait’s Ambassador to the United States, Sheikh Al-Zain Al-Sabah, described the Wall Street Journal report as false and inaccurate. He emphasized that Kuwait had not participated in any military operation against Iran and had not authorized the use of its territory, airspace, or territorial waters for attacks on a neighboring state.
The ambassador stressed that Kuwait’s position remains focused on regional stability, security, and avoiding involvement in conflicts that could escalate tensions in the Gulf.
Sheikh Al-Zain Al-Sabah also called on The Wall Street Journal to correct the information it published and clarify what Kuwait described as misleading claims.
The denial comes amid heightened tensions in the Gulf region, where several countries have been closely monitoring developments surrounding the conflict between Iran and U.S.-aligned forces. Gulf states have repeatedly stated that they do not want their territories used as launch points for military operations that could draw them into a wider regional confrontation.
