Prophet Makandiwa has publicly announced his intention to accept a previously declined gift from Wicknell Chivayo, stating he plans to use the resources to build a church in “record time.”
Makandiwa confirmed that Chivayo had previously made a social media post claiming the religious leader had refused a gift. Makandiwa acknowledged this initial refusal, stating he had told Chivayo at the time: “I have received your gift, but I’m not going to collect… I’m not going to take it.”
However, the cleric revealed that he has since reconsidered the offer.
“I had a second thought. I thought about it again. I want to build that church in record time,” Makandiwa said via his interpreter, adding that they are now “really expecting that that gentleman is going to bring our gifts.”
During the address, Makandiwa also defended Chivayo against unnamed critics. Addressing public commentary surrounding Chivayo’s wealth and his well-known habit of distributing gifts, the cleric argued that the businessman’s actions do not align with those of a thief.
“The reason why I’m saying that is because I’m speaking against what I’ve heard people saying,” Makandiwa stated. “Because in my life I have seen thieves, but they don’t behave… they don’t do that after stealing. They eat alone.”
To facilitate the handover of the gift, Makandiwa instructed Chivayo to bring the donation directly “to the house,” promising spiritual returns. He emphasised that they would minister to God and pray for him to be blessed.
Before concluding his remarks on the matter, Makandiwa made a point to clarify the specific target of his message, noting, “I am not talking about all the other members of the apostolic sect. I am talking about Madzibaba Wicknell.” – Zimbo LIVE Harare
