WORDS REVEAL A MAN – HH’S REMARKS AGAINST GARY NKOMBO
The NGOCC has issued a statement condemning President Hichilema for drawing Gary’s mother into his political remarks.
Disability rights activist Julien Mwape has advised the President to apologize describing his remarks as an affront against all people living with disabilities.
Gary himself wrote on his Facebook page that he cannot change how God created him, an apparent reference to how his eyes are naturally set.
You know, I feel very bad even as I write this. I am searching for the most appropriate words to describe how I feel. God help me!
God detests individuals who mock His creation. In the Old Testament, He swiftly answered the prayers of a prophet who had just been mocked by young people because of his bold head (2Kings 2:23-24).
In the New Testament, Jesus came across a man who had been blind from birth. The disciples asked Him as to whether that was occasioned by his own sin or that of his parents (John 9: 1-3).
Jesus said neither the blind man nor his parents were responsible. Instead, He attributed the blindness to an act of God.
Hichilema, as an elder in church, must understand that physical attacks are ungodly. They reveal a heart devoid of godliness.
As a Head of State, he is leader of all and leader in his conduct and speech. As a husband and a father, he must set an example for his family to emulate.
Some might seek to excuse his intemperate language by sweeping it under the carpet of politics. However, if there existed an excuse for sin, then the death of Christ was meaningless.
Words reveal the content of one’s heart. Hichilema just revealed to the nation what those contents are – the physical appearance of people determine their worth or lack thereof.
If Hichilema can disrespect God openly in this fashion, why would anyone think he can respect them?
The likelihood that he disrespects many others and only relates to them because he can use them to reach his personal ambitions is quite high.
I wouldn’t be surprised if he goes about his business without rendering an apology to Gary. It’s typical of individuals who have no regard for others.
But I would be very happy if he proved me wrong.
