Ngizwe Mchunu has broken his silence following the decision by March and March to suspend its working relationship with him, using the opportunity to sharply criticise fellow activists Jacinta Ngobese-Zuma and Phakel’umthakathi Ndabandaba.
In a video shared on social media, Mchunu argued that continuous marches and protests cannot go on forever because they could damage South Africa’s already struggling economy. He said businesses, workers and ordinary citizens suffer when economic activity is repeatedly disrupted, adding that activism should also consider the long-term impact on jobs and investment.
Mchunu also launched a personal attack on Jacinta Ngobese-Zuma and Phakel’umthakathi Ndabandaba, referring to them as “brainless” and accusing them of pursuing publicity rather than offering practical solutions. He further claimed they lacked the experience and understanding needed to lead a movement effectively.
His remarks have sparked mixed reactions online. Some people agree that prolonged protests can place additional strain on the economy and support his call for a different approach. Others have criticised his comments, arguing that personal insults distract from important national issues and that peaceful protest remains a constitutional right.
