COPPERBELT UPND MP CANDIDATES ASKED TO SUPPORT INDEPENDENTS BECAUSE THEY CANNOT WIN
Honourable Emmanuel Jay Banda, during his online program “Miracle Jay Banda TV,” revealed that President Hakainde Hichilema convened an online meeting with Chipoka Mulenga, Kampamba Mulenga, Elisha Matambo, Warren Chisha Mwambazi, Emmanuel Katambo, and Paul Kabuswe to discuss the forthcoming elections and their prospective outcomes.
During the meeting, Hichilema presented an intelligence report that contradicted their earlier assurances to him that they were popular to win their seats.
The intelligence report revealed a stark reality: contrary to previous claims that the United Party for National Development (UPND) would secure several seats on the Copperbelt from the Lamba community, these candidates were unlikely to win the seats they sought.
In light of this information, Hichilema urged the group to consider endorsing independent parliamentary candidates instead.
This strategic move was intended to ensure that the UPND maintained sufficient numbers in parliament to elect a Speaker from their ranks, a critical step towards advancing efforts to impeach Brian Mundubile.
Moreover, the report illuminated shifting political allegiances in key regions.
Copperbelt province, once considered a stronghold, had tilted significantly in favor of Mundubile, showing an overwhelming lead of 95%.
Similarly, Lusaka Province was firmly under Mundubile’s command with an 85% lead.
