ZELENSKYY TO MEET ALL 100 U.S. SENATORS AS NEW RUSSIA SANCTIONS BILL GAINS MOMENTUM

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is set to meet with all 100 members of the United States Senate during his visit to Washington, in what is expected to be one of the most significant events of his trip.

The meeting at the U.S. Capitol comes as lawmakers debate a major sanctions package aimed at increasing economic pressure on Russia over its war in Ukraine.

The proposed legislation would expand existing sanctions on Moscow and introduce tougher measures against foreign companies and countries that continue to conduct business with Russia. Supporters of the bill argue that the measures are intended to further restrict the Kremlin’s ability to finance its military operations.

Zelenskyy is expected to use the meeting to thank senators for continued U.S. support and to urge Congress to maintain military, economic, and diplomatic backing for Ukraine.

The legislation remains under consideration in the Senate, and its final provisions and prospects for passage have yet to be determined. If approved, it would represent one of the most significant expansions of U.S. sanctions on Russia since the war began.
