SOUTH AFRICA: Woman Stabs Boyfriend to Death in Libode After Argument Over Missing Grant Money, OR Tambo Commissioner Condemns Killing



OR Tambo District Commissioner, Major General Norman Modishana, has condemned the fatal stabbing of a 32-year-old man allegedly by his 23-year-old girlfriend in Ziphunzana, Libode, on Sunday, 26 July 2026 at around 14:00.



According to reports, the suspect noticed that money from her government grant had been withdrawn from the bank and accused her boyfriend. The argument escalated, with the victim allegedly assaulting the woman repeatedly.



In retaliation, the woman allegedly grabbed a knife and stabbed her boyfriend. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared dead on arrival.



Libode police arrested the 23-year-old suspect shortly after the incident. She appeared before the Libode Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, 28 July 2026, on a murder charge. Her case has been remanded to Thursday, 30 July 2026, for a formal bail application.
