UNZA STUDENTS RECEIVE RECORD K5,850 MEAL ALLOWANCE, VOW TO MARCH TO STATE HOUSE TO THANK HH.

University of Zambia (UNZA) students have received a record-breaking K5,850 meal allowance, sparking excitement across campus and drawing praise from student leaders, who have described the payment as the highest meal allowance ever received by students at the institution.

UNZA Students Union (UNZASU) President Mwanto Kabaso, popularly known as General or Shuwa Shuwa, welcomed the development, saying the amount matched what students had been hoping for.

“K5,850 is what we prayed for. Therefore, ba Monk naba Moma, after exams all roads lead to State House,” Kabaso declared.

According to the student leader, the planned visit to State House will not only be an opportunity to raise any outstanding concerns affecting students but also to express gratitude to President Hakainde Hichilema for what he described as a positive response to student welfare issues, including improvements in sanitation at the university.

“Not only will we ask President Hakainde Hichilema about other issues, but we will also say thank you for the improvements in sanitation because he’s a listening father. Bally, we’re coming,” he said.

In a message that has since circulated widely on social media, Kabaso also invited students from Ridgeway Campus to join the planned celebration.

“Ridgeway, if you feel like joining us, tag along. Actually, let’s do this on Saturday!” the statement read.

The payment of K5,850 has been welcomed by many students, who say it comes at a crucial time as they prepare for their examinations. Student leaders have described the allowance as a milestone, saying it reflects progress in addressing student welfare through engagement with government.
