Trump Warns Xi Over Reported Chinese Arms Shipments to Iran

U.S. President Donald Trump has said he would be “very disappointed” if reports that China is supplying weapons to Iran prove to be true, revealing that he raised the issue directly with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Speaking to reporters, Trump said Xi had previously given him strong assurances that China would not provide arms to Tehran.

“Xi had strongly assured me that he would not do it. Otherwise, I would be very disappointed in him. He knows it very well,” Trump said.

The remarks come amid intelligence reports indicating that Iran could receive a shipment of hundreds of Chinese-made rocket and missile launchers. According to the reports, the weapons shipment is believed to be transiting through Pakistan before reaching Iran.

Neither Beijing nor Islamabad has publicly confirmed the reported transfer, and no official evidence has been released to substantiate the intelligence claims.

If confirmed, such a shipment would likely further strain already tense U.S.-China relations and could significantly impact the security situation in the Middle East, where concerns over Iran’s military capabilities remain high. The reports are expected to draw close scrutiny from regional governments and the international community.
