Zelenskyy: Ukraine Must Rely on Technology Over Manpower to Counter Russia
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Ukraine must stay ahead of Russia through technological innovation rather than relying on larger numbers of troops, arguing that advanced capabilities are essential to saving lives and strengthening the country’s defenses.
Speaking about Ukraine’s military strategy, Zelenskyy said Russia holds a significant advantage in manpower, making it critical for Kyiv to adapt quickly to emerging technologies.
“We need to be strong every moment and adapt to new technologies. We have to be quicker than Putin because he has more people than we do. We must save our people by using more technology instead of more people,” Zelenskyy said.
His comments highlight Ukraine’s increasing focus on advanced military technologies, including drones, artificial intelligence, electronic warfare systems, and precision weapons, as it seeks to offset Russia’s numerical advantages on the battlefield.
The remarks come as Ukraine continues to expand domestic defense production and deepen cooperation with Western partners to enhance its technological capabilities amid the ongoing war with Russia. According to Zelenskyy, maintaining a technological edge is key to improving battlefield effectiveness while minimizing casualties.
