Mundubile and Makebi are democratic, says Kampyongo
FORMER Home Affairs Minister Stephen Kampyongo says democracy demands that leaders work with people they may not necessarily agree with for the greater good of the nation.
He says independent candidates like any other candidate should be embraced.
Speaking on Radio Phoenix this morning, Kampyongo said although the Tonse Alliance did not field candidates in every constituency, NRPUP presidential candidate Brian Mundubile and his running mate Makebi Zulu have demonstrated democratic leadership by embracing like-minded candidates in areas where the NRPUP and the RP have not fielded candidates.
On the energy sector, Kampyongo said an NRPUP government would prioritise ensuring load-shedding never returns, stating that the party’s plan to introduce nuclear energy remains high on its agenda.
He alleged that while many Zambians were enduring prolonged power cuts, the current government continued exporting electricity.
Kampyongo said the persistent load-shedding led to the collapse of many businesses, affecting livelihoods and economic growth.
He added that an NRPUP government would implement a well-defined investment strategy for the energy sector to ensure a stable and reliable power supply.
