JULIUS MALEMA CHALLENGES MARCH AND MARCH MOVEMENT, SAYS “BEAT ME IF YOU CAN” AS HE ACCUSES THE GROUP OF AFROPHOBIA, TRIBALISM AND TARGETING AFRICAN MIGRANTS
EFF leader Julius Malema has launched a fresh attack on the anti-illegal immigration movement March and March, accusing it of promoting Afrophobia, tribalism and violence against African migrants.
Speaking during an EFF press conference, Malema said the party had expected tribalistic groups to emerge but insisted they would never be allowed to divide Africans. He described the movement as a vigilante organisation that, according to him, intimidates and targets African migrants.
Responding to what he said were threats directed at him, Malema declared, “Beat me if you can!”, adding that he would not be intimidated or change his stance on defending African unity.
Malema maintained that the EFF would continue to support Pan-Africanism and oppose what he called attempts to blame foreign nationals for South Africa’s social and economic challenges. He argued that crime and unemployment should be addressed through law enforcement and economic reforms rather than by targeting people from other African countries.
His remarks come as debate over illegal immigration, border security and the activities of the March and March movement continues to intensify, with supporters of the movement arguing that it is campaigning for stronger enforcement of immigration laws, while critics accuse it of promoting hostility towards foreign nationals.
