THOUSANDS RETURN TO THE STREETS FOR MYKHAILO FEDOROV
More people have once again taken to the streets of Kyiv in support of former Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov, showing that the demonstrations have not faded with time—they have endured.
What began as a spontaneous reaction to Fedorov’s dismissal has evolved into a sustained movement.
Despite government reshuffles, leadership changes, and ongoing Russian missile attacks, Ukrainians continue gathering in the capital and other cities, arguing that the reforms they believe Fedorov represented are too important to abandon.
That persistence is significant.
History shows that many protests lose momentum after the first few days. These have not.
Instead, demonstrators have continued returning to the streets, making it clear that, for them, this is about more than one individual. It is about accountability, transparency, and the future direction of Ukraine’s military reforms during wartime.
Perhaps the most remarkable aspect is that these demonstrations are taking place while Ukraine remains under daily missile and drone attacks.
The same country defending itself on the battlefield is also exercising the democratic right to peacefully question decisions made by its own leadership
That stands in sharp contrast to Russia, where comparable public demonstrations against senior government decisions are often quickly dispersed and participants risk arrest
Whether one agrees with the protesters or not, their continued presence sends a powerful message. Ukraine is fighting not only to defend its territory, but also to preserve a society where citizens believe their voices matter. The demonstrations have not stopped—and that, in itself, has become part of the story.
