Pentagon seeks $18.2 billion to replenish Iran war interceptors – Bloomberg
The Pentagon is seeking $18.2 billion in emergency funding to replenish advanced missile stocks used during the Iran war, including Patriot, THAAD and Tomahawk systems, Bloomberg reported Friday.
The request is part of a broader $67 billion emergency funding package for the current fiscal year, according to Pentagon documents sent to congressional defense committees.
The funding includes $5.75 billion for THAAD interceptors, $5.57 billion for Patriot Missile Segment Enhancement models and $1.9 billion for SM-6 missiles, the report said.
The documents reflect concerns over US weapons stockpiles as the military continues striking Iran and intercepting drone and missile attacks on American bases in the region. The United States fired 13,629 munitions at Iranian targets between the start of the war on February 28 and an April ceasefire, according to Bloomberg.
