BEATING MUSICIANS WILL ONLY MAKE YOU LOSE VOTES

I read with a heavy heart how the musicians campaigning for Mr Brian Mundubile where  beaten by alleged supporters of Mr Hakainde Hichilema in Solwezi.

Violemce has never won anyone an election and we stronglycondemn the babaric act which reminds us of the recent past where political intolerance was the order of the day.

What is even more disheartening are the comments the post by Rich Bizzy where most young people are laughing the incident off with really stupid comments and focusing on a wrong English spelling rather than the brutal act which was caught on camera. Others were saying these guys entered into someone’s bedroom. What nonsense!

Lets put it clear, Zambia is for everyone including Mundubile’s supporters and musicians and the country is a bedroom for every citizen, not just politicians and theri minions. Politicians cannot direct the country to suit their agendas.

One of the reasons UPND won in 2021 was because citizens hand sympathy for the wrongs PF was conducting with the aid of young people and the more the opposition is pushed against the wall, the more citizens begin to support them.

To the leaders of political parties, violence is a sign of cowardice, desperation, greed and fear of losing. How your caders behave has a direct bearing on your credibility as a leader. It is only right that those individuals involved are made to face the full wrath of the law. We know that ECZ is a toothless puppy where fairness is concerned and therefore we do not expect much mitigation but the onus is on the leaders of the ruling party to tame their minions.

To those young people who are tools of violence, I say that is weakness and mere stupidity because the people you are fighting for are safe and secure while you risk facing the law either now or in future. If your party wins through violence then you are legitimizing criminality and casting doubt on free and fair elections. If your party is performing well, there is absolutely no need for you to shed blood. You act alone is enough for someone to change their mind about voting for your leaders.

Democracy is not just about wining, its also about losing and how you conduct yourselves before, during and after elections.

ABASH POLITICAL VIOLENCE!
