ANGOLA’S KWANZA JOINS SOUTH AFRICAN RAND IN SADC PAYMENTS

Angola’s kwanza has now been added to the SADC regional payment system, joining the South African rand.

This means the two currencies can be used to settle certain cross-border payments between participating SADC countries.

The development could make regional trade and banking transactions more flexible, while strengthening financial cooperation across Southern Africa.

For Namibians, this does not mean the kwanza is replacing the Namibian dollar or the rand. It is mainly a change to how participating banks handle regional payments.
