Iran says no talks underway with US, discusses temporary Hormuz route with Oman

Iran is not currently holding talks with the United States and is instead negotiating with Oman over a temporary safe route through the Strait of Hormuz, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei said on Monday.

“As long as the United States continues its violations, there will naturally be no significant change in the situation in the Strait of Hormuz,” Baghaei said, adding that reaching an agreement with Oman over route is not enough for the reopening of the strait.

Baghaei added that Iran has no plans to receive a US delegation or send an Iranian delegation to meet American officials “in the coming days.”

He also said that Iran has been discussing with Oman the creation of a new route through the Strait of Hormuz comprising a single corridor with entry and exit lanes.
