Up to 5 million barrels of oil flowing through Hormuz daily – CNN
Between three million and five million barrels of crude oil per day are flowing out of the Persian Gulf through the southern shipping lane near Oman despite sporadic Iranian drone attacks, CNN reported, citing shipping sources.
“Traffic through the Strait of Hormuz remains active with all the challenges in place,” maritime intelligence agency Marisks said. It added that limited commercial traffic indicated the waterway had not become a fully enforced exclusion zone.
An empty tanker, the Velos Amber, appeared to face an Iranian warning action while entering the Persian Gulf through the Omani lane on Sunday, shipping sources said. The vessel continued its journey and was off the UAE coast early Monday.
Shipping in the Red Sea has remained relatively stable despite the Iran-backed Houthis’ warning last month of a blockade targeting Saudi- and Israeli-linked vessels, CNN reported. Thirty-four ships passed through the Bab al-Mandeb Strait on Sunday, according to MarineTraffic data.
